OSCON Wrap up and MySQL Connect Conference

So last week was a great week at the Community Leadership Summit (CLS) and the Open Source Conference (OSCON).  The two conferences had a big focus on community as a whole and their features within them. I was also able to talk and interact with people from MariaDB, SkySQL, Percona, MongoDB, facebook, and of course others from MySQL and Oracle.

At the Oracle booth we talked with numerous people from the community about the MySQL features of MySQL 5.6 as well as the MySQL Connect Conference. As I looked over the great lineup that OSCON offered, I realized the great difference that MySQL Connect will offer. OSCON had great sessions, but not as in depth as I would have liked. Why would it after all, it is an open source conference not a database conference. I still would have liked to have seen more about databases though. We did however have some great BOF sessions by MySQL, Percona, and MariaDB. A big thanks to all of those who attended the BOFs.

In depth MySQL database sessions, that are geared towards a beginner to the advanced users, is the reason why Oracle will have the MySQL Connect Conference. It is a MySQL database conference and it will be held Sept 29th & 30th. It will have a great lineup from the community and Oracle MySQL Engineers, currently 78 in total. The conference includes six tracks: Performance & Scalability, High Availability, Cloud computing, Architecture & Design, Database Administration and Application Development as well as BOF (Birds-of-a-Feather) sessions. Don't miss out on this! The MySQL Community team looks forward to seeing and meeting you at MySQL Connect.

Also, don't forget to take advantage of the extended early bird registration!
